Lectors proclaim God's Word to the Body of Christ that is assembled. Their effective proclamation reveals the God of history to those who have gathered to worship. The Lector also vocalizes the needs of the community in the Prayers of the Faithful.

Those considering this ministry should have good diction and a basic comfort of standing before sizable crowds. The life of one wishing to enter this ministry must be lived in conformity within the norms of the Church.
